Specialist skills

Volunteer your skills and experience in specialist areas

The CAB is all about the client – making sure that individuals do not suffer through ignorance of their rights and responsibilities and that their local and national communities are responsibly developed. But it takes a team to support our clients and there is more to do at a CAB besides interviewing clients.

For instance, our Interviewers rely on a national database of service providers and information resources and our commitment is to check, and if necessary update, each entry at least once a year. If you love databases and detail, then get involved as an Information Officer.

Since 2010 Bureau have been using an internet-based system to record client enquiries (anonymously) and to operate the national database from. Understandably, this has increased the need for information technology support.  If you know something about computers and IT, then get involved by offering your specialist knowledge to your local bureau.

The CAB would be nothing without our clients – so they need to find us!  All bureaux have responsibilities to publicise themselves and their services to their local community. Get involved by offering your design skills and/or time and energy to spread the word about the service.

These are just some examples of areas where specialist skills may be of use to a bureau.
