Napier Citizens Advice Service opened on 29th September 1986.
In April 1987 it became a full Citizens Advice Bureau and extended the hours of operation. Originally the opening hours were 9am to 12pm each week day and several months later the closing time was extended to 2pm. Opening times are now 9am - 4pm Monday - Friday and 9am - 11am on Saturdays, with a free legal service on Saturday mornings.
Napier City Council provided rooms located in the Community Rooms, Memorial Square Tennyson Street and CAB Napier operated from there until 2013.
In 2013 the Council arranged for a seismic report of the building and discovered that it was well below the safety requirements for occupation.
CAB Napier then relocated to the Community Hub at 62 Raffles Street, and the Community Rooms were closed for use by the general public.
On 24th August 2018 the lease expired at the Community Hub and we sought new premises.
On Monday 27th August we re-opened for business in our new location at 126 Hastings Street, Napier.
The bureau is well sign-posted outside and you can find us next to the BNZ. There is a lift available for anyone who cannot manage the stairs.
