In January 2010 Microsoft made a software donation to Citizens Advice Bureau NZ (CABNZ) to support CABNZ's new technology platform (of which this website is a part) developed under the CABNZ Digital Strategy Project.  The dollar value of the free software licensing Microsoft has provided was worth approximately NZ$5.5 million at the time the donation was made and is one of the largest donations of software licensing that Microsoft has made globally.

The donation by Microsoft represents a significant contribution to the CABNZ Digital Strategy Project and therefore to the enhancement of the service which the Citizens Advice Bureau provides to the public.  It reflects Microsoft's commitment to working in partnership with not for profit organisations to help them use technology to advance social and economic development.
